2024 Seahawks draft coverage: Picks, mocks, analysis, rumors, reports, live updates, more

The 2024 NFL Draft is in Detroit this year (April 25-27), and it’s another intriguing looking three days ahead for the Seattle Seahawks.

This is the first draft for the Seahawks under new head coach Mike Macdonald. It’s also a draft without any picks from the Russell Wilson trade, so no extra first- or second-rounders on this occasion. Seattle does have a third-round pick from the Denver Broncos from a separate move made in last year’s draft.

Seattle enters draft week with seven selections, but no second- or fifth-rounders due to respective trades made to acquire defensive lineman Leonard Williams and quarterback Sam Howell.

Speaking of quarterbacks, will the Seahawks draft one this year? Geno Smith had his contract restructured and Howell was brought over from the Washington Commanders, but that doesn’t mean Seattle is out of the QB hunt. They’re definitely not getting Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels or the other names set to go in the top-10, but perhaps the University of Washington’s Michael Penix Jr could reunite with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Oregon’s Bo Nix is thought to be a possible Day 2 option, while Spencer Rattler is another Day 2 or early Day 3 possibility.

The Seahawks’ most pressing needs figure to be the interior offensive line, inside linebacker, and safety. There may be an inkling for more investment at edge rusher and tight end, as well. A lot of attention will ultimately be paid to how Seattle will approach the quarterback position, having drafted just two (Russell Wilson and Alex McGough) in 15 years under general manager John Schneider.
