When it’s the quiet part of the offseason, literally any Seattle Seahawks-related transaction is news.
Former Seahawks wide receiver Cody Thompson, one of several practice squad players not given a reserve/future contract at the end of last season, has agreed to a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Thompson has been with the Seahawks in some capacity for all but a handful of months in his six-year NFL career. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs, Thompson was waived in October of his rookie season and signed to the Seahawks practice squad. He was released only a few days later and joined the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad before he found himself back on the Seahawks during the 2020 NFL playoffs.
Over the past four seasons, Thompson has alternated between the practice squad and the active roster, with one year spent on injured reserve back in 2022. In total, Thompson appeared in 12 games for the Seahawks, with 140 of his 167 snaps coming on special teams. His lone catch went for 10 yards against the New York Giants in Week 5 of the 2023 season.
If you need a refresher, these are the Seahawks practice squad players at the end of last season who did not get reserve/futures contract and thus aren’t on Seattle’s 90-man roster:
Austin Faoliu
Joey Hunt
Cade Johnson
Kelvin Joseph (signed with Kansas City Chiefs)
Sean Mannion (retired, joined Green Bay Packers coaching staff)
Hamilcar Rashed Jr (playing in the CFL)
Christian Young
