The next time the Seattle Seahawks are on the practice field will be in late July.
Following Wednesday’s mandatory minicamp practice, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald announced that the team is done with minicamp a day earlier than scheduled.
“We were scheduled for practice [on Thursday] but I told the guys we’re not going to practice,” Macdonald said. “Just really couldn’t be happier with the effort. That’s what I was telling them — the effort, intent, the energy, the attitude, all the things we’re asking them to do, they responded every day. [I’m] just really excited about where we’re at.
“We had the extra week being the new staff and everything so it felt like it was an opportunity to get out of here healthy and have a great offseason.”
New coach Mike Macdonald’s going to be popular for this: He cancels the last day of mandatory #Seahawks minicamp tomorrow for how well and hard they’ve been working installing their new systems.

This is not some incredibly rare/unprecedented decision. Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton also ended minicamp early, although I’d probably do the same if I had to watch Zach Wilson throw. The Miami Dolphins also canceled their final practice last week, while the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams also followed suit.
Full details on Seattle’s training camp schedule will be made public on Tuesday, June 25. That’s the next important date on the calendar for fans, as this next month will be the first opportunity to see the new-look Seahawks in-person at the VMAC in Renton.
